INDIVIDUAL EQUIPMENT

Most importantly:  
- Passport with photocopies
- The contact details for your insurance company + the adherence number and/or a photocopy of the insurance policy.
- International drivers licence if you plan to rent a car
- Cash and credit cards

Divers:  
- Camera and extra film/memory card and extra batteries
- Notebook and pen
- Gifts for the children i.e. notebooks or pens for school use, clothes or toys (please avoid candy)
 
Personal equipment for the tour: The climate between 4000m/13.123ft and 5000m/16.404ft of altitude can be rough and the weather can be very unstable. It can change from one extreme to another within minutes and even if it might be very warm during the day the temperature can drop to -20°C/-4°F during the night. The sun’s rays are very intense during the day and it is necessary to be protected.

Here a general non exhaustive list:
- A sleeping bag suitable for -15°C/5°F and a Thermarest or similar sleeping mat.
- Day-pack to carry the things you need during the day (water, sunglasses, camera, extra jacket etc.) and a back bag or travel bag with your personal belongings – this will be carried by the porter/mules/lamas if you are trekking or mountainclimbing.
- Sunglasses, sunhat or cap, sun protection lotion and lip protection
- Water canteen, headlight with spare batteries, Swiss knife (remember not to carry the latter in your hand luggage during air travel!!)
- Warm and waterproof clothing: it is advised to dress after the 3 layer principle; 1st layer – warm underwear, preferably quick dry, 2nd layer – fleece and 3rd layer waterproof windbreaker. It is a good idea to bring one extra jacket if conditions get severe.
- Warm gloves and hat.
- Trekking shoes and warm socks.
- Personal pharmacy
- Swim wear for the hot springs on the Altiplano and the springs in the Yungas and the Amazon

Special equipment for mountaineering: harness, crampons, ice axe, descenders, carabiners, strap, cords, helmet etc.
