The Huayna Potosi is only 1 ½ hours away from La Paz and can be reached by a good road. The ascend represents some technical difficulties like the «pala chica» with an inclination of 45°-50° over 50m/164ft and the «pala grande» with an inclination reaching 50°-55° over 180m/590ft. We recommend this summit to experienced climbers. In this descriptive we only present the most popular climbs. If you are interested in another climb please do not hesitate to contact us.

1 - La Paz – Huayna Potosi Shelter (4720m/15.486ft) – High Camp (5150m/16.896ft)
We leave early to reach the Huayna Potosi shelter which is situated at the Zongo mountain pass (4720m/15.485ft). We pass a series of lagunas before reaching the foot of the Huayna Potosi. From here we trek to High Camp at 5150m/16.896ft. Camping. Distance: 35km/22mi. Transport: 1h30. Trek: 4- 5h; Elevation: +430m, +1.410ft. L/D

2 – HIgh Camp - Summit Attempt (6088m/19.973ft) – Huayna Potosi Shelter – La Paz
We leave real early to attempt to reach the summit at 6088m/19.973ft. After reaching the top the descend takes approximately 6 hours to the Huayna Potosi shelter and at the end of the day we return to La Paz. Distance: 35km/22mi. Transport: 1h30. Trek: 5-6h. Elevation: +938m/-1368m, +3.077ft/-4.488ft. B/L
